Upon This Rock is a strategic initiative designed to immediately impact our parishes as well as reshape the way the Church funds key ministries and programs for the future. This mission will ensure our ability to continue to effectively carry out the Lord's mission of service. As a Catholic community, we are asked to come together to establish a robust culture of evangelization and stewardship, and a vibrant future throughout Western New York.
During this time, we look to you for prayer and support as we work towards reaching our goals. Please continue to visit for updates, news stories, and ways that you can support Upon This Rock.

St. Michael's Church
A Message from Father Jim
Throughout the Easter season, our first reading was taken from the Acts of the Apostles. These are the stories of the early church and how the Apostles spread the good news of the Risen Christ to build up the Christian communities throughout the new world. Sunday we saw in our readings from the Acts of the Apostles, Paul and Barnabas traveled to the cities of Lystra, Iconium, Antioch, Pysidia, Pamphylia and Attalia. In all of these places Paul and Barnabas organized the fledgling Christian communities to further build up the Kingdom of God.
In this day and age, we are still carrying on the work of Paul and Barnabas and the other disciples. You have heard this week in our church about the “Upon This Rock” initiative. This is an important initiative in our Diocese. This is one of the ways that we can continue to grow the church and to grow our parish both now and for future generations. We are all here because somebody brought us the gift of faith. Through this initiative, we will do our part to strengthen our parishes and our Diocese so that future generations may come to know the great love and mercy of Jesus Christ. Many of our parents and grandparents built up these parishes so that we could have places to come to and worship and practice our faith. It is now our time to ensure that future generations continue to have places where they in turn can pass on the faith.
I ask you to prayerfully consider participating in the initiative so that both our parish of St. Michael’s and the Diocese of Buffalo can move forward to its mission of serving God and each other. I thank you for your generosity.
